Introduction: Top Gift Ideas for Kids
What does a management consultant know about top gift ideas for kids? You never know when your past experience will come in handy. Years ago, I worked as Head of the Toy Department at one of the HBC (formerly Hudson Bay Company) stores in Calgary, Alberta. This position helped to finance my Bachelor of Commerce degree. In my role as Head of the Toy Department at the store that I worked, I was responsible for ordering toys. I would meet with the various toy reps.
Though it was back in the early 1990s – a couple of decades ago – I remember ordering Lego, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures, Transformer toys, Barbie and friends, a variety of board games and much more.
Fast forward to today, there are many new toys that didn't exist back in the early 90s. And some of the oldies have gotten a facelift. We’re living in an age where you’ll find cool gift ideas for kids, and you have come to the right place to find them. Today, I own my own business, The Invisible Mentor. And I cater to busy professionals. But busy professionals could use a helping hand with finding creative gift ideas for kids.
Although I no longer work in the toy business, I have 20 years of research experience, and part of that means that I find information for my clients, all the time. I thought that I would use my skills as a researcher, and my experience working in the toy department to make choosing toys for the holidays easier for you. I liked the lists of hot toys that ToysRUs and Walmart published, and I am using them as a starting point for helping you to find the best toys to give as gifts.
