Still Sitting on the Fence? Why You Must Join the Read the World Challenge Today!
…You don’t want to miss out on the EVENT OF THE YEAR! Sign-up for the Read the World Challenge.
How much could you achieve in life if you read a book a week for 52 weeks? How would your life be transformed if you read 52 of the right books for a year? How much would your tolerance and sensitivity towards others who are different from you increase if you took the time to step into their world by reading about their experiences?
I know that’s a lot to think about. I can hear the wheels spinning in your head. I can hear your three biggest objections why you are still sitting on the fence, and won’t commit to participating in the Read the World Challenge.
- “I cannot participate in the Read the World Challenge, or any other reading challenge because it won’t be easy to do.” It’s not easy. It’s not supposed to be easy. It’s hard work. Little risk, means little reward.
- “I have no time.” Really, everyone has the same 24 hours in the day. Why is it that CEOs make the time to read about 60 books a year? Do they know something that you don’t? They know that ongoing learning is critical to continued success.
- “I cannot read a book a week for 52 weeks because I am not special.” You don’t have to be special. Some of the most ordinary people accomplished the most extraordinary feats.

Why Participate in a Reading Challenge?
Reading challenges matter because they get people to read more. When people read more of the right books, they elevate the level of their thinking, and they acquire newfound knowledge and skills. Looking at the most popular reading challenges that just came out, I noticed that they are more sophisticated today and the requirements are more demanding. They should be, that’s a good thing. The books that you benefit the most from by reading them, force you to think more. Many of them are downright difficult to read, but when you take the time to figure out what the author is really saying, you score big time. And that’s what life is about, to continually evolve and grow. 9 Reading Challenges for Adults to Take in 2016 by Kristian Wilson has links to reading challenges for you to participate in, and I am truly honored that she included mine.
With most New Year’s resolutions, people don’t stick to them, and many of the people who opt to participate in a reading challenge will abandon it in no time. If that is the case, why bother to participate in a reading challenge? It’s not about the other people, it’s about you, and achieving audacious goals, making 2016 your best year yet.
Why Participate in the Read the World Challenge?
I have mentioned that there are many really good reading challenges, so why should anyone choose mine to participate in, especially when it’s not as popular as some of the others? The simple answer is that it’s different. I have learned that if you want to host a successful challenge, you have to set people up for success. And one of the ways you do that is by providing regular prompts. For the Read the World Challenge, you will receive weekly prompts to read the book, take notes while reading, and participate in the Facebook or LinkedIn group. Results show that people stay subscribed when there is a community component.
I have also broken down my reading challenge, so people do not become overwhelmed, and it’s also structured so that you can develop personally and professionally. The year you spend on the Read the World Challenge is a year of transformation. And one of the biggest benefits is for you to connect the ideas from the books you read, how cool is that. This is a process where an ordinary person can do something extraordinary? How would your life change if you blended the ideas from four of the books you read, to come up with a great, jaw dropping idea?
The possibilities are endless if you actively participate in the Read the World Challenge. I hope you will join us on the Read the World Challenge.
