WE’RE TIPPING OVER!: The Urgency to Rethink Government, Business, Heart and Soul!
We're Tipping Over!: The Urgency To Rethink Government, Business, Heart and Soul! by Andy Feld is another spin on the law of attraction with a twist. There is nothing earth shattering about the book, but a reminder to us that we cannot approach and do things the way we have been accustomed to doing them. The world is changing, and there is no going back to the way we were – we are living in a global village, and today, instead of competing with people in our community, or even our country, we are competing with others in other countries as well. Individuals and governments are carrying high debt loads and we are at the point of tipping over.
We have to learn to stem our appetite for material abundance, and get our house in order, which entails getting out of debt and living within our means – spending less than we earn. Take the time to realize your potential and take action. Taking some action is much better than taking no action. We have the capacity to adjust to the new reality that we are facing. Feld believes that love can connect us, all the members in the global village. A big way to effect change in our lives is to introduce a practice of medication.
One of the things I admire about the book is that in addition to Feld naming the problems he perceives we are having individually and collectively, he also offers solutions to the problems. There is much in We’re Tipping Over that I agree with, but there is also a lot that I do not agree with. However, we have the right to voice our opinions, and Feld took the time to write a book. In dealing with the high costs of Medicare and some of the other assistance programs, Feld recommends the “Wal-mart” way where the US government would use heavy handed tactics with doctors, pharmaceutical companies and so on to get better deals.
Feld says that when we think that our lives are out of balance we should assess the situation to determine if that is indeed our thought, or did someone tell us that we were out of balance. For me, balance implies that something suffers as a result of another. Feld points out the many aspects to our lives – work, family, health relationships and so on, and he is correct. Instead of life balance, life integration is a better term, and at any moment, we have to decide which aspect of our life is the most important at that time.

10 Big Ideas from We’re Tipping Over
- We are in a new normal period, and the old selfish way of doing things no longer works. We are all connected to each other and love is the common thread that can hold us together.
- The same way each of us must get our houses in order before we can assist others, is the same way for countries.
- Take personal responsibility for your well-being and development. As individuals, we cannot control our government, big business, and other people, but we can control ourselves.
- We have the ability to make change individually and collectively.
- We have to first love ourselves before we have the capacity to love others.
- If we pursue happiness, and understand what is required to be happy, we would see universal change in ourselves and the ways government and businesses operate.
- Synchronicity exists around us, be open to allowing these seemingly coincidental events into your life.
- Learn to listen to your heart and soul, your inner guidance system. Build moments of silence into your day so your instincts, intuition, whatever you call it, will guide you.
- Listen, read, absorb, meditate then do what’s best for you. This point is related to one above about following your instincts, your inner guidance system.
- If you want to change your future, start making changes today. Change your thoughts, emotions, words and actions.
Components of Love
- Self-love: We have to learn to love ourselves before we have the capacity to love others.
- Love unconditionally: Accepts others for who they are and love them for it.
- Love without attachment: Stay in a place of love despite what may be going on around you.
5 Steps to Happiness
- Smile first thing in the morning when you arise. Smile throughout the day and with everyone you encounter.
- Adopt an attitude of gratitude. Write down all the things you appreciate in life and take the time to give thanks for them.
- Practice self-forgiveness and then forgive others. This act allows us to live in the now and helps us to align with our deepest desires.
- We are all unique with different views. Allow others to be who they are and quit trying to see the world through your lens. Accept people as they are.
- Watch and listen less to the media. Bad news sells, and you do not want to be inundated if all that is going wrong in our world because there is a lot that is going right.
We're Tipping Over!: The Urgency To Rethink Government, Business, Heart and Soul! by Andy Feld is not for everyone, and many may perceive it as a bit too “new agey” for their appetite. As I mentioned before, Andy names the problems in our society today, but unlike many, he offers solutions. We may not like his solutions to the greatest problems facing individuals and the government, but it’s a starting point for a conversation. Was the self-mentoring strategy helpful?
