Sarah Arrow’s 30 Day Blogging Challenge is reminding me to plan ahead and take action. By participating in the Blogging Challenge, I am recapturing my focus. The year after my mother died, I was in a daze, and focusing on any one thing was a huge feat. Can anyone else relate to that feeling? The second year I started to feel better, but still could not hold my focus on anything at my original level. It also took me a while to get into any activity, and I needed structure to be very productive. I find myself writing a few blog posts at a time, so I am not scrambling the same day to write something. I think things through and plan ahead, which is a good thing. I would like to get to the point where my posts are themed.
Monday – Sarah Arrow’s 30 Day Blogging Challenge: I have been blogging for nearly six years, so why would I join a Blogging Challenge? I don’t know what I don’t know! And, I am very proactive when it comes to professional growth. I believe there is always room for improvement, and I am also not contented with the results of my blogging. This is day 15 of the Blogging Challenge, and I am astounded by how much I am learning.
Tuesday – What I Learned after 20 Years of Interviewing: I have been conducting interviews for over 20 years, so I thought I would share some of the lessons along the way. There have been a few major mistakes, but they have been lessons learned and feedback for me. This post is not about interviewing in the context of employment interviews, but there are some lessons and tips that are applicable to that situation.
Wednesday – Review of Converge: Transforming Business at the Intersection of Marketing and Technology by Bob W. Lord and Ray Velez: It’s the subtitle of Converge that grabbed my attention. I am interested in the intersection of disciplines because Steve Jobs was very big on that. Apple turned out beautiful and easy to use products that were at the intersection of art and technology. Need I really say more?
Thursday – Review of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: The Book Thief is on many of the must-read lists, and I have had it for nearly two years, but just getting around to reading it. I am reading the book as I project into the week ahead, but the story is set in Nazi Germany, and the narrator is Death. Sounds intriguing, right? You’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out more.
Friday – Interview with Jim Kerr: Last year I interviewed Jim Kerr, the author of The Executive Checklist. This is the transcribed interview. At a later date, I will provide the review/summary of his book. A staple of the blog is the invisible mentor interviews so readers can learn from the experiences of others.
