Are you feeling overwhelmed because there is so much to do? Are you feeling that there aren’t enough hours in the day? I know exactly how you feel. The fact is that you cannot do everything you’d like to do, but you always have time to do all the things that are important to you.
A few days ago I was feeling very overwhelmed because I had so much work to do. I miss my mom terribly, and have not been sleeping well. The grieving process is draining and very tiring. I feel very tired during the days and was wondering if I would be able to meet my deadlines. On top of that, my focus hasn’t been as razor sharp as it used to be.
I decided that I was not going to work through the nights to get my work done, I wanted to have some me-time, and I wanted to spend time with friends. This cuts down on the amount of time to perform work, so I had to find a solution that would work for me. I am very grateful for my paid work and I love working with my clients. But it’s important that we take time for leisure and rest, so that we can give our clients our best. Our clients deserve that, they deserve only the best from us. The person who said, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!” was on to something.
I looked at all the things I had to do, and focused only on the important ones, and I realized that I had enough time for the important things in my life. That was a great lesson for me to focus only on the actions that would lead me to my big goals in life. We cannot do everything because there simply aren’t enough hours in the day, but we can make the time we have count.
If you shifted your mindset, what are the things that you would carve out the time for? For 2013, what are some important things that you’d like to accomplish? How can you carve out the time for them? After all, there is always time for the important stuff in life.
