What does it take to become successful?

Highlights from Sandra Yancey’s Talk
Sandra Yancey’s 5 Ls of Success
LEADERSHIP:
- Your job as a CEO is to have a great vision. Great leaders do not always know how to execute their vision.
- You cannot develop the expertise to build your business on your own.
- Learn something that will attract a lot of people, and find your tribe.
- Stop dragging people along. Recognize that as you travel the road that leads to success, you are growing into the person you must become. The people in your life right now may be uncomfortable with the woman you must become, so stop trying to drag them along. The greatest leaders know that there are times when they have to drop people from their lives.
- You cannot build a million dollar dream with minimum wage people.
- Great leaders have and ask a lot of questions.
- Your standard is EXCELLENCE – you have to push the button and go, knowing that you can make changes as you go along. It’s about innovating.
- You don’t have to change your dreams, but you have to sell how your customers buy.
LEARN:
- Carve out at least 15 minutes each day to read.
- Take the biggest obstacle you face and conduct a search on it. You might be surprised by what you find out.
- Success depends on the people you hang out with, therefore, as your business grows, you may outgrow the people you are around.
- You will need two teams: An A-Team and an Access Team.
- Your A-Team are the people you hang out in business with.
- Don’t do your own admin work, so make sure you have a Virtual Assistant, Banker, Coach, Lawyer, Marketer, and Financial Advisor.
- You have to spend money to make money.
- Your Access Teamis comprised of people who are 50,000 feet above you.
- Go where successful people hang out. Engage them on a personal level.
- Stop attracting customers who cannot afford you because they will suck you dry. Have to get out and network to make the contacts.
- Learn how to get to the people who you want to meet. What do these successful people do? What can you adapt?
LOSE:
- Lose with grace.
- Never use social media to rag on somebody.
- Put out positive vibes in the world.
- Everything you lose, is not necessarily a loss. And when you lose, do not lose the lesson.
LISTEN:
- Be silent, it’s golden.
- Pause each day to listen to your heart. If you listen long enough to something you are struggling with, you will learn when it’s time to recalculate and recalibrate.

LOVE:
- It starts with self-love, so stop treating your body like a trash can.
- Does your body sustain you for a dream?
- Look at the stories you tell yourself every day about what you can or cannot do.
- Care about the people you love, and treat them well because what you take for granted will be taken away.
- The definition of success is happiness.
A practice of Sandra Yancey that we can adopt, is on February 14th of every year, she buys a specific book for her closest friends. In the past, if I find a book that resonates with me, I will buy several copies and give to people who I think will appreciate it. I like Yancey’s way better, because it’s more systematic.
Sandra Yancey ended her talk with, “It is your time, so step into it!”
