Reading Benefits: Read the World Challenge – Why Participate?

Anyone who has been reading my blog, even for a short time, knows that I love reading because it gives me so much pleasure, and I enjoy the immense reading benefits. Often when I am going through a difficult time, I cannot read certain books because I am unable to focus as much as I would like on the content, but I am still able to read and enjoy books that take less mind power to absorb.
Despite this, I always learn from the books I read — even ChickLit. Every day, we have the opportunity to learn something new, but we have to open up ourselves, to recognize and capitalize on the opportunity. One of the benefits of reading that you will experience while participating in the Read the World Challenge, is that you will gain so much, when interrupt your brain by reading books that you normally wouldn't read.

I wish that more people would share my passion for reading, but I must accept that there are other things that some people are passionate about. Having said that, there are many benefits to reading, and some of them are backed by science.
