Look objectively at your big ideas, how can you combine them into a much bigger idea that connects to a human need?

The Strategic Reading Challenge is for people who are interested in learning new skills for work. But I think that if you decide to invest the time to read some of the best books for personal and professional development, then you have to take the process one step further to make sure that you get the most from your reading. And that’s why it’s so important to play with the ideas from the books you read.
The books for this month are meant to stretch you creatively and intellectually. Even though the focus is not on the 10 key skills needed for future jobs, the knowledge you will gain from this month’s list of books will make you more valuable and marketable. You are rounding out your list of skills and abilities.
To place yourself in a position of power in the workplace, you have to give yourself more career options. The Strategic Reading Challenge allows you to do this.
Let’s get started on Month Five of the reading challenge. Make sure that you have all your five books handy. This way you will know which books you intend to read, and you can read them one after another without scrambling to find a book to read. It is also a good practice not to read difficult books one after another because that is too draining. Before you buy any books, check to see if you own any that meet this month’s reading criteria.

- Read a book written by an author, born in a European country.
- Read a book to help you master social media.
- Read a book written over a century ago, then read a retelling of the book. This counts as two books for the month.
- Read a collection of comics. There are many comic book series that deal with difficult topics.
- Each week, read a technology article from a well-respected journal/magazine.
