Quotes to Inspire You Today
There are so many places to go for walks in Toronto. I take photos while I walk, of whatever captivates me, so I decided to find the right words to go with each photo to create images for social media. It occurred to me that I could write a blog post to share the quotes that I have selected to create images. Do you love quotes? What’s your favourite one? And how do you use quotes?
River
“Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.” Khalil Gibran
“Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.” Marcus Aurelius
“If my ship sails from sight, it doesn't mean my journey ends, it simply means the river bends.” Enoch Powell
Bridges
“We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” Isaac Newton
“I demolish my bridges behind me – then there is no choice but forward.” Fridtjof Nansen
“Education is all a matter of building bridges.” Ralph Ellison
“I believe in communication; books communicate ideas and make bridges between people.” Jeanette Winterson
Bench

“I often lay on that bench looking up into the tree, past the trunk and up into the branches. It was particularly fine at night with the stars above the tree.” Georgia O'Keeffe
“Jazz is all about improvisation and it's about the moment in time, doing it this way now, and you'll never do it this way twice. I've studied the masters. Why would I want to play ball after the guys who sit on a bench? I want to play like Michael Jordan.” Brian McKnight
Path

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress.” Barack Obama
“I've learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom – how great is that?” Soledad O'Brien
“Remember when life's path is steep to keep your mind even.” Horace
“Trust your own instincts, go inside, follow your heart. Right from the start. Go ahead and stand up for what you believe in. As I've learned, that's the path to happiness.” Lesley Ann Warren
Decision Making
“It’s always the little decisions that have the biggest impact. We all have to make that “make or break” call to follow orders or do what you know is right.” Mark Cuban, The Sport of Business
Reading/Learning
“I would continually search for new ideas. I read every book and magazine I could. Heck, three bucks for a magazine, twenty bucks for a book. One good idea would lead to a customer or a solution, and those magazines and books paid for themselves many times over. Some of the ideas I read were good, some not. In doing all the reading I learned a valuable lesson…. The same information was available to anyone who wanted it. Turns out most people didn’t want it.” Mark Cuban, The Sport of Business
“Going to college should be about experiencing as much academically as you possibly can, but more importantly, it should be about learning how to learn and recognizing that learning is a lifelong endeavor. School isn’t the end of the learning process, it’s purely a training ground and beginning.” Mark Cuban, The Sport of Business
