There are times when simply having fun is the best thing you can do. Some of you know that I am grieving, some days are not so great, but I dp have some great days. On some of my great days, I am able to produce very good work. I have been blogging for a while now, and I am always looking for ways to make The Invisible Mentor blog better. And this is a part of life, each day we are supposed to be growing into a better version of ourselves. With this is mind, I often look for ways to get into the creative space, and reading The Book With No Pictures
by BJ Novak, got me where I needed to be.
I am working on creating some book summaries that I plan to sell, and have been looking for ways to make the information product more visually appealing. Additionally, I am also publishing a book of quotation, and you know already that there are many e-books look sterile and boring. While I was in the bookstore, I noticed The Book With No Pictures by BJ Novak, and it looked interesting.
I asked the sales associate to check the price of The Book With No Pictures by BJ Novak, and she came back with a price of CDN $20 including taxes. And I think to myself,
“You’ve got to be kidding! It’s a children’s book for crying out loud.”
I left the book in the store and returned home. My instinct kept on telling me to buy the darn book, so after my meeting today, I returned to the bookstore to buy the book. As I was scanning through the book again, I remembered that I had actually seen a video of the author reading the book to some children, and he was hysterically funny, so I got the book.

I read the book in a few minutes, and it made me laugh, a really good laugh, which is exactly what I needed in my life today. Do you ever listen to yourself, and give your heart what it needs? If you have never done that, try it sometime. I cannot review BJ Novak’s The Book With No Pictures because there is no story really, it’s a ridiculous book filled with nonsense that will make you laugh. This is a children’s book, and I remember when I was watching the video of the author reading the book to kids, just how much they were laughing at all the silliness.
“I am a monkey who taught myself to read. Hey! I’m not a monkey! And now I am reading this book with my monkey mouth in my monkey voice. That’s not true…I am not a monkey!”
