3 Steps to LinkedIn Mastery by Alex Pirouz, Linkfluencer
Over the past year or so, there have been great interest in LinkedIn, the social media platform for professionals. Several books have been published, and there is a rise in the number of LinkedIn experts. Many people are now using LinkedIn to generate leads for their businesses.
Recently, I reviewed Connect: The Secret LinkedIn Playbook To Generate Leads, Build Relationships, And Dramatically Increase Your Sales
by Josh Turner. In the book, Turner outlines in great detail, his lead generation process, and the book also teaches you how to create a successful LinkedIn group. The book is a manual that you will constantly refer to.

Additionally, I attended 3 Steps to LinkedIn Mastery, a webinar Alex Pirouz hosted. During the webinar, Pirouz outlined how to master LinkedIn, with an offer to buy his program at the end of the webinar.
Since I read Josh Turner’s book, I decided that one process to use LinkedIn to generate leads is enough, although I must admit that Pirouz’s program, is more than about lead generation.
And I also have The LinkedIn Code and Ultimate Guide to LinkedIn for Business
to read. There was some overlap between Turner’s and Pirouz’s lead generation process, but I learned some new things from the webinar.
Alex Pirouz uses LinkedIn to get media exposure, form strategic partnerships and generate leads for his business. I have not intentionally done any of these three things on LinkedIn for my business, have you?

Alex Pirouz’s LinkedIn Success
-
“Build a network of 310 contacts in the media and get featured in over 50 media publications without sending out a single press release
-
Secure over 30 joint venture partnerships….helping grow his current database, from 50 subscribers to over 14,000 in less than 14 months
-
Write regularly for several business publications, including Huffington Post, Inc. Magazine and others…
-
Generate thousands of leads across 14 different industries without spending a cent on paid advertising.”

Alex Pirouz had me thinking when he said to look for your top three complementary businesses – those are your possible strategic partners. The other thing that struck me, is a nugget of brilliance, when he told webinar attendees to think about their ideal clients, what services they use before and after working with you.
Companies who offer these services are potential strategic partners. The thing is this, people like Josh Turner and Alex Pirouz think outside the lines. And that’s why they are having so much success using LinkedIn. They recognize the true potential of the social media network for business.
LinkedIn Mastery
Step 1: Plan
- Start with the outcomes in using LinkedIn.
- Your marketing objective over the next three to six months.
- Develop your ideal client profile – industry, profession, organizational role, company size, location and so on.
- Top three objections you face when selling your product.
- Your unique point of difference.
- Top three challenges your product solves.
- Design your profile.
I must admit that I have never thought about most of the points above, have you? This tells me that I have to create a LinkedIn Plan. I have a plan for using Pinterest and for my Facebook business page, so why not LinkedIn?
Note from Avil:
David Meerman Scott, by way of his blog, Web Ink Now, recommends the book, Buyer Personas: How to Gain Insight into your Customer's Expectations, Align your Marketing Strategies, and Win More Business by Adele Revella. I trust him so I bought the book and it’s on my list of books to read this summer.
I think if you are serious about using LinkedIn for lead generation, you should read this book. Simply because others will not do it. And you will learn about who your ideal clients are, which is critical to strategic connecting. Because the book’s focus is on buyer personas, you will learn more from it about creating ideal profiles than you will learn from either Josh Turner or Alex Pirouz.

- Create funnel.
Step 3: Profit
- What is your call to action, strategy? When you build relationships, what do you want your leads to do?
