The Strategic Reading Challenge Helps You to Get the Skills You Need to Thrive in 2020
Learn the key skills needed for future jobs!
This is an adult reading challenge! It is different from other adult reading challenges because you are using it as a learning tool. Most reading challenges are free, but I am charging you USD $5.00 because I only want people who are serious about getting the skills they need to succeed to participate.
I am not looking for professionals who love to join without any intent of doing the work. While on the Strategic Reading Challenge, you will be reading a book every six day – five books each month. That may sound like a lot, but it is doable. Think back to the last 10 books that you read, how many of them were worth reading cover-to-cover? You will learn how to read intelligently and selectively?
I love the Francis Bacon quote:
“Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.”
I want you to memorize that quote and take it to heart.
Another quote worth paying attention to:
“Many people think reading is an all-or-nothing activity. Either you read every page of the entire book, or you ignore it completely. But the best readers put themselves in control of their books. Especially with non-fiction books, they don’t waste time reading content they’re sure won’t edify them. They only focus on the truly important sections. Roosevelt did this often. He would jump around in search of the meaty nuggets of a book that would inspire him, challenge his opinions, or force him to think critically about some topic.”

What to Expect When You Join the Strategic Reading Challenge
Every six days, you will get an email from me with the type of book that you will be reading that week. Other reading challenges do not send you emails. I also advise you to take detailed notes while reading. The point is that taking notes is a form of learning. You will be participating in the reading challenge to learn the 10 key skills needed for future jobs and taking notes will help you to remember more of what you read. When reviewing your notes, you are asked to pick out the big ideas from the book. If the book has ideas that you can immediately use, make sure that you apply them before you forget.
Practice Profit Reading
After you have read the five books for the month, I ask you to combine ideas from the various books that you read. This simple act allows you to elevate ideas, making them bigger. See if you can tie the idea to a human need to provide a solution to a problem that matters. I want you to profit from reading the books while on the Strategic Reading Challenge.
I have been working with the concept profit reading. My hypothesis is that if you read the right books, apply the ideas, you can profit from them. I am currently testing the hypothesis by interviewing voracious readers. One person responded that he made about $3 million after he applied the ideas from a book on profitability models.
Join the Strategic Reading Challenge for USD $5
I want that for you, and that is why the Strategic Reading Challenge is not for the faint at heart. If you want to take your career to the next level by learning key skills, and you are prepared to do the work, I invite you to pay the USD $5 to jump into the challenge. And make sure that you schedule the time to read.
