How Happy Are You?
The idea for this post formed while I was reading, “Happy People are Productive People: 3 Tips for Maximizing Workplace Performance,” The Downtown Women’s Club recent blog post. Here is an excerpt from the blog post:
“The secret to maximizing performance is to create an environment in which your employees are happy. A happy employee is highly engaged, flourishing and has achieved an acceptable work life balance.
We know that high employee engagement leads to high performance. Recent studies by the Corporate Leadership Council, Towers Perrin and Development Dimensions International, show that a highly engaged work force results in a 20% improvement in employee productivity, a 50% reduction in unplanned attrition and a 23% increase in customer satisfaction. But employee engagement is just part of the answer. To truly maximize the performance of your work force, you also need to create an environment where they can flourish.”
But, I am more interested in your personal and professional life and not just professional, so that’s the focus of today’s blog post. Are you happy with the life you are living? If no, what changes both short and long term can you make? If we were sitting here one year from today, what would have had to happen for you to be happy? If you noticed, I didn’t say feel happy because I think happiness comes from within and is a state of being. And most importantly, do you know the situations in which you flourish?
Engagement is another aspect of happiness, how engaged are you with life? Are you operating on rote, or are you truly enjoying the journey of life? Are you living each day as if it was your last? If today was your last day, what would you be doing? Think about these things and I will too.
As the Invisible Mentor, one of my function is to help you be the best YOU! The more engaged you are with your life, the more likely your best self will start to burst out from it’s hiding place.
Let’s keep the conversation flowing, please provide comments.
