Expert Interviewer

Avil Beckford is founder of Ambeck Enterprise, The Invisible Mentor and Readers are Leaders. I am an expert interviewer, writer, researcher and the published author of Tales of People Who Get It and its companion workbook, Journey to Getting It. I founded The Invisible Mentor, a non-traditional mentoring program where professionals learn from, and are mentored by the experiences of others, in the form of expert interviews with highly successful people, wisdom of life profiles of very wise people who lived before us, and SummaReviews which are hybrid book summaries and book reviews.

Do you Have a Legacy Statement?

IMG_0087I was conducting background research to identify possible topics to write about. One of the things, which personally struck me while reading was the notion of a Legacy Statement. According to Gary Ryan Blair, President of TheGoalsGuy, “Your legacy serves as your life’s defining statement. It serves a two-fold purpose. First it provides an overarching framework for all mission statements and goals to follow. Second it answers the question, What do I want to be remembered for?”

I have never really thought about a Legacy Statement, have you? There are a couple of major things that I would like to do as a way of giving back, but I have never taken the time to map out the plan. I have written my mission statement for the Invisible Mentor Blog (see below), but have not formally written a personal mission statement that I like. Now that I am thinking about legacy and mission statements, over the next couple of weeks I will write my legacy statement and refine my personal mission statement. What about you, will you join me on this journey?

Mission Statement for The Invisible Mentor Blog

As an Invisible Mentor, my purpose is to deliver information through this blog that unleashes the inner genius within you. I plan to accomplish this by:

  1. Posting blog entries at least four times each week
  2. Finding thought provoking books that are off the beaten track, that provide concepts that you can apply to your lives
  3. Interviewing successful people, who are not the usual suspects, and who have a willingness to share their wisdom and experiences
  4. Providing thoughtful and/or educational posts that will make you pause and think

If I do this faithfully, in one year, The Invisible Mentor Blog will not only be a premier site, but also a valuable education resource and destination for those interested in expanding their minds and thought processes.
